Primary purpose of the role

To support the operational function of the Procurement Department by carrying out essential tasks that ensure the department meets it’s KPI’s and the business continues to provide great service to our customers whilst working cross functionally with sales, finance, technical and customer services.

Key Accountabilities

  • Focusing on core/stocked lines ensuring the best possible price at all times.
  • Support the wider department and Purchasing Manager to drive benefit through COG’s.
  • Complete regular re-costing of existing products and work with both sales and technical to value engineer.
  • Work closely with relevant Account Managers to ensure prices are submitted within agreed timeframes.
  • Complete all stock orders, order placements, expediting and receipting, of purchase orders inline with customer time frames.
  • Sensor check all orders ahead of placement to ensure validity of order placement.
  • Maintain and improve product data in system and support the Inventory Co-Ordinator to review min/max levels and drive optimum stock holding.
  • Work closely with Finance to resolve any invoice queries
  • Support the Quality Manager and Inventory Co-Ordinator to process a solution to returns or quality issues.
  • Manage and be effective in the 3p contractor process to drive efficiency.
  • Support the Purchasing Manager in managing supplier performance, OOS issues and crisis management.
  • Develop a strong product knowledge and have insights of the packaging industry and share with team.
  • Build excellent relationships with existing and new suppliers.

Person Specification

  • Minimum of 6 A to C passes at GCSE level – must include English and Maths
  • Previous experience in a Purchasing environment and use of Purchasing systems and processes
  • Knowledge of packaging products and previous experience of the Packaging Industry
  • Experience of Microsoft Office Tools (specifically Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
  • Negotiating skills & proactive approach to problem solution
  • Flexible working attitude with a drive to succeed and potential for development
  • Good team player with excellent communication skills
